The Southern New Jersey Development Council (SNJDC) is dedicated to advancing offshore wind development as a cornerstone for economic growth and environmental sustainability in the region. Through advocacy and collaboration, SNJDC actively supports initiatives like the New Jersey Wind Port, a purpose-built facility in Lower Alloways Creek Township designed to serve as a logistics and manufacturing hub for the East Coast’s offshore wind industry. Through championing this and other Offshore Wind projects, the SNJDC aims to attract investment, create jobs, and build a skilled workforce, contributing to a greener and economically robust future for Southern New Jersey.

About the New Jersey Wind Port

New Jersey's Wind Port is a first-in-the-nation purpose-built facility dedicated to supporting the growing offshore wind industry along the U.S. East Coast. Located in Lower Alloways Creek, Salem County, along the Delaware River, the port spans over 200 acres and is strategically designed for the staging, assembly, and transport of massive offshore wind turbine components to offshore project sites. The Wind Port aims to strengthen the offshore wind supply chain, foster economic development, and create hundreds of union jobs within the state, aligning with New Jersey’s goal of reaching 7.5 gigawatts of offshore wind energy by 2035. The project represents a significant investment in renewable energy infrastructure and signals New Jersey’s leadership in the U.S. offshore wind sector, while supporting environmental and economic resilience in the region.

The Wind Institute for Innovation and Training coordinates and galvanizes cross-organizational workforce development, education, research, and innovation efforts to support New Jersey’s goal of generating 11,000 megawatts of offshore wind energy by 2040. The Wind Institute engages and coordinates with a wide range of strategic partners to develop and deliver training programs and educational resources that accelerate development of a robust and diverse offshore wind workforce and promotes research and innovation that unlocks market potential in the state’s growing offshore wind industry.
