SNJDC's Meet the Legislators of Districts 3 & 4

On Friday, the Southern New Jersey Development Council welcomed legislators from New Jersey’s 3rd and 4th Legislative Districts for a Public Policy Speaker Series at Rowan College of South Jersey in Sewell. The discussion provided SNJDC members and guests the opportunity to hear directly from their elected representatives on key issues impacting South Jersey’s business and economic climate.

President Marlene Asselta opened the morning program, thanking attendees, sponsors, and participating legislators and then introduced Rowan College of South Jersey President Dr. Brenden Rickards for brief remarks.

Joe Milo, Director of Nuclear Generation at PSEG Nuclear, the events Title Sponsor, provided a brief presentation, emphasizing the company’s ongoing investment in clean, reliable energy. Milo discussed the critical role of their carbon-free nuclear fleet, including the Salem and Hope Creek plants, which generate more than 3,700 megawatts of clean power and employ approximately 1,600 full-time staff. He also noted that PSEG holds one of only six Early Site Permits issued by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, positioning the company to explore new nuclear development opportunities to expand future generation capacity at the site.

The panel was moderated by Jim Gilroy, State Government Affairs for PSEG nuclear, and featured legislators from District 3 including Senator John Burzichelli, Assemblyman David Bailey Jr., and Assemblywoman Heather Simmons. Representing District 4 was Assemblyman Dan Hutchison and Assemblyman Cody Miller. Each legislator shared insights on their various policy priorities ahead of Tuesday’s election and the forthcoming lame duck session.

A Q&A session closed out the event, offering the legislators an opportunity to share their final insight on the issues shaping South Jersey’s economic future.
