On Tuesday, March 3rd, the Southern New Jersey Development Council welcomed legislators from New Jersey’s 7th and 8th Legislative Districts for its Public Policy Speaker Series at the DoubleTree Hotel in Mount Laurel. The program brought together members of the business community to hear directly from their elected officials about priorities impacting economic growth and development across South Jersey.
The event opened with welcome remarks from SNJDC President Marlene Asselta and was moderated by SNJDC Trustee and Government Affairs Committee Co-Chair Marshall Spevak, CEO of the Battleship New Jersey. Legislators were invited to share their perspectives on business and economic development, infrastructure, and policy initiatives affecting the region.
Representing the 7th Legislative District, Assemblyman Balvir Singh highlighted issues tied to energy innovation, fiscal responsibility, and the intersection of affordability and ongoing development. From the 8th Legislative District, Senator Latham Tiver shared insights from his service on the Environment and Energy Committee and underscored the importance of sound energy, environmental, and housing policy to support long-term regional growth.
The program concluded with an engaging audience Q&A session, providing attendees the opportunity to raise questions and directly discuss legislative priorities with the event speakers.
